January is the perfect time for reflection, a chance to look over the previous year at all the good you’ve done and anything you might want to improve upon.
At eComOne, we lead with a growth mindset and use all our experiences to become our best. We don’t fail, we learn. What we’ve taken from 2024 is there were so many great events, experiences, wins, and things to cheer about, including what we were able to do for our Charity of the Year: Acts Trust.
They run a range of support projects and programs that address the real needs of Lincoln residents while empowering individuals to identify and tackle the root causes of their challenges.
One such initiative is the Lincoln Foodbank, which is part of a nationwide network supported by The Trussell Trust and works to combat hunger and poverty across the UK.
Another key program, Energize, engages young people aged 8-18 in schools and community centres across Lincoln, fostering growth and positive development. For adults aged 18 and over, their Restore Programme is tailored to help individuals understand and overcome poverty-related issues in their lives.
Additionally, the Night Light Cafes, hosted in different churches across the city each day, provide a safe and welcoming space for those facing mental health crises.
The Lincoln Community Grocery is another valuable resource. It offers affordable food baskets for just £4. Members can choose from surplus food stocks that would otherwise go to waste.
While we’re proud of what we achieved during a tremendously busy year, we know we could do more. That’s why, in 2025, we’re upping our CSR game! However, let’s focus on the good we did in 2024.
Six of our wonderful team started our fundraising efforts with the Lincoln 10K, a challenge for some members who struggled to run 1K when they began training! A wonderful £575 was raised from team members, family and friends!
A good piece of cake is always appreciated in the office, so we had no trouble persuading the team to take part in the eComOne Bake-off. Each week, a member of the team would bring in a home-baked sweet treat for the team to indulge in and score out of 10.
This wasn’t done just for fun, though. For each sweet treat the team devoured, they had to donate. Due to the sheer amount of us, we’ve still got a few more bakers to participate before we can work out the total and crown the winner, however, we think we will have raised around £200 and gained at least 50 between us! Can someone make us a fruit platter?
Q4 is always hectic for us, but we planned ahead and, in Q3, rallied around to bring in as many non-perishable foods as we could to deliver to the food bank. While Christmas is a magical time, it can be a hard season for many, with food banks being relied on more than ever. If you’re lucky enough to enjoy a Christmas dinner in a warm home with your friends or family, you’ve won the lottery. Consider donating to a food bank or offering your time to a charity like Acts Trust at Christmastime; they hugely appreciate it.
This year, we are determined to do even more and shine a true light on our unwavering dedication to Corporate Social Responsibility.
